October.
Busy, busy, busy.
Yet not.
Some days feel non-stop.
Others so full of nothing that its overwhelming.
Shopping,
Reading,
Studying,
Teaching,
Music,
Creating,
Writing,
Visiting,
Talking,
Stopping at the end of the day and wondering:
was anything accomplished?
Anything truly important?
I've learned you don't have to be busy to be worn out.
You don't have to go non-stop to make your life matter.
You don't have to let it all go either.
Learning to stop
and
Smell,
Listen,
Touch,
Taste,
See...
The scent of fragrant autumn blooms or baking cookies.
The sound of birds outside the window or the beautiful silence.
The soft feel of a baby's skin as they sleep against your chest.
The taste of sister's newest invention in the kitchen.
The sights all around, the smaller ones, that we seem to miss.
Autumn is one of my favorite times of the year.
A time when senses are hightened by brilliant changes in color!
Smells are more tantalizing.
Days are busier and evenings are lazier.
Yet, I seem to waste precious time by not remembering to
stop.
I'm feeling the need to now more than ever;
to just look around and breathe deeply.
October is here.
It hasn't been for a year!
Stop and smell!
