the snow glows white

*introductory note: "The cold never bothered me anyway".  Yeah... I was pretty much numb by the end of this photo-shoot.  As much as I adore Frozen, I cannot relate to Elsa in this instance.*

This was my outfit yesterday; flowy shirt, cardigan, black jeans, tan boots, and my incredible trench coat.

I have lost count of how many times I have (with much adoration) worn this coat.  Up until this winter, I owned maybe one nice coat... and, even though it is very pretty and I still love it, I was somewhat limited as to what clothing I could actually wear with it (it is a black and white plaid).  So, when I found this lovely coat on sale (there was only one and it fit perfectly!), I was instantly in love.

Where did I find it???  Walmart, actually.  While I like low prices, sometimes quality can match that, so I hadn't spent much time in the winter coat section of Walmart, except the occasional walk-through (I hadn't seen any trench coats and that was the style I desired).  So, imagine my surprise when (as I was walking toward the check-out) I noticed a lovely tan trench coat on the sales rack.  It was the only one and I had never seen it before.  I have no idea how it appeared there.  I had been looking for trench coats (at many stores and had recently purchased a gray one) and this was, by far, my favorite tan one of any I had seen (plus the price was considerably lower).  I don't know if a different Walmart in some far-off land carried these coats or if there was some kind of mistake in returning it to the correct store (it was a return item and I have had that happen before)... but I am still thrilled!  :-)  It is incredibly soft and feminine, while very warm and practical (and very good quality)!

Mockingjay Pocket-watch Necklace~ Gift

This cardigan is one of the newest additions to my wardrobe and was also on sale (I just love sales!).

It has been nearly a year since my Mom gave me this *incredible* pocket-watch necklace (complete with mockingjay on the front).  It continues to be that ideal accessory.

It's about as perfect as a necklace can be.

For my hair, I did an incredibly easy method of hair-curling: high ponytail, curl hair in a few medium sections (I did five), pull out hair-tie, "fluff", spritz with hairspray.  This makes for soft, natural wave (and keeps that "uniform curl" look from occurring).  After trying several ways to curl my hair, I have definitely settled on this one (it was the easiest, the quickest, and these were my favorite results).  Even though my hair is long and somewhat heavy, this hairstyle lasted all day long (my hair does hold curl very well, so results may differ for other ladies).

Last of all, I want to share a quote about beauty from an actress who is (by far) one of my favorites of all time.  Sometimes with modesty/clothing posts, we can get carried away by trying to impress or look perfect.  But true beauty isn't how we look, it is so much more than that.  And it is only when we discover this truth, that we can really begin to live (act, dress, speak, think) in a way that honors Christ.

"The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair.  The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides.  True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul.  It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows.  And the beauty of a woman only grows with passing years."  ~ Audrey Hepburn

Oh, and if you need something to help pass the time while it is so *extremely* cold, listening to the soundtrack of "Frozen" or watching some Audrey Hepburn films (I love "Roman Holiday", "Sabrina", "Charade", and "How to Steal a Million") is always a good idea.

I absolutely LOVED this post, Rachel! You're so beautiful and the outfit is lovely! I especially like the cardigan, top, necklace, and your hair and nails. :) That is definitely something I would wear.

I'll have to try that hair-curling method. I haven't had much success with curling my hair lately, and I'm not sure why. :/

I love sales too! They're a big weakness of mine.

Well, this was a lengthy comment, so I shall sign off. Thanks again for sharing!

Blessings,
Annie

What a lovely outfit! I love the trench coat. <3

Your hair is beautiful, thank you for sharing your method of curling it! I have some natural curl, but during the winter my hair is rarely very curly, so I'd love to give this a try.

We wen tot all the department stores, and I could never find one I liked, finally, after no success, we went to Walmart for some groceries and there we found a really cute coat!
