Baby, it's cold outside

The first snow has come and is almost gone.

My husband and I were staying with my younger siblings while my parents were on a weekend trip.  My youngest sister was snuggled up in bed with me when eight-year-old Samantha came into the bedroom to wake us up.
"There's snow outside, Rachel!"
Bekah's eyes flew open and I knew it was time to get up.

As Samantha and I marveled at the light sprinkling of snow in the back yard, Bekah tugged her little shoes on over her bare feet.
"I want to go play in the snow!"

There she stood.  Nightgown and shoes.  Blond hair mussed.  Eyes bright.  She couldn't remember the snow from last year, being only two years old right now.

"It's too cold, Bekah," I said.  And true, it was nearly freezing.
Her lower lip goes out, "It's too cold?"
"Yeah, sweetheart."

Samantha and her pressed themselves against the back door, staring, adoring the world outside.
I snapped pictures.  So in love with the changing seasons.

"Alright, let's go outside."
I just couldn't help it!

So we went out in our pajamas.  Bekah was so taken with the white dusting on the ground.

She took in it all with eyes as fresh as the newly-fallen snow.

We stayed out long enough for her to touch it.  Stare at it.

Then we dashed back inside, covered in goose-bumps and smiling wide.

I'm so thankful for my family.  For the first snow.  For little girls who want to go and touch the snow with me.

Hope you all are having a good week!  For the next couple weeks my regular "Modestly Monday" and "Friday Favorites" won't be happening.  My life is SO busy right now.  In the next two weeks I will spend only one full day at my house due to a trip, a vacation, and babysitting!

God bless you all!

This is so sweet, Rachel! i think I would tend to be like your little sister, and run out there regardless of the snow. :) there is something about the first snow that just draws you out there. (I missed the first snow here... Slept in too late! :)

So precious! And I totally understand Bekah's excitement. :) The first snow is always that, I think, despite your age. Exciting. :)
