"Perhaps, after all...

romance did not come into one’s life with pomp and blare,
like a gay knight riding down;
perhaps it crept to one’s side like an old friend through quiet ways;
perhaps it revealed itself in seeming prose,
until some sudden shaft of illumination flung athwart its pages,
betrayed the rhythm and the music;
perhaps . . .
perhaps . . .
love unfolded naturally out of a beautiful friendship,
as a golden-hearted rose slipping from its green sheath."

*long, happy sigh*

It's has been a week since my last post.
And I apologize.
Last week some unexpected things happened
that have left the last five days a
blur of excitement.

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011...
After he flew out from Wyoming
(without my knowledge)
to surprise me when I woke up in the morning...
After he took me on a slow, sweet walk
down to the bridge stretching over the
little creek we've splashed around in
these past two summers
as friends and
as a courting couple...
After he pulled out a guitar and
sang a beautiful song he wrote
for this occassion...

Andrew knelt down and asked me to marry him.

My response???

"Absolutely!"

Andrew and I have been making
wedding plans for a while now...
Because of our long-distance relationship
we started figuring out how we would do things
before we were officially engaged...
Do you know how confusing that is for everyone around us???
:-)

I wasn't sure when he would "officially"
ask me.
Goodness, was I shocked by his
surprise visit!

And then there was the ring...
I won't go into long details to confuse you...
But, I found out that day that
I have had the ring
IN MY ROOM!
since this last summer.
Andrew made a special gift for me
that he HID my ring inside...
I've always loved secret compartments,
but that was crazy!

Needless to say, I love having it on my finger now.

We spent the next five days
taking walks,
talking,
wedding shopping,
"Save the Date" card designing,
window-shopping,
watching movies at night,
eating wonderful Thanksgiving food,
laughing,
playing games with the family,
sitting together and just "being".

Oh, and we also posed for these pictures!

Andrew flew out yesterday evening
to get back to school.
Only four weeks till we see each other again!
It's the shortest wait we've ever had.

Thank you so much to those who have prayed for us.
Please continue to do so.
We've set the date for May 19th, 2012
and are SO excited!!!

God is so amazing in how He brings things together,
isn't He?
I am so blessed to have Andrew in my life
and cannot wait to see all that
God has in store for us
together.

May God bless you all!!!

Congratulations! I know all about the long distance relationship - my husband lived in Missouri and I in California during our engagement. Wedding plans and the such were all mainly done over the phone and email. We've been married for just about 2 years now - next Monday! :) Lovely Pictures! :)

Congratulations again, my friend! Your ring is so much more beautiful than I imagined when Jessie first told me about it! It's not too big or too small or too flashy or too plain: it's just right for you... kinda like Andrew. :) Say "Hey" to him from me in four weeks when you see him.
