Home again, home again...

My "dreary" part of the year is mid-January till mid-March.  So now I'm right in the middle of what is usually the dreariest part of the year.

But, notice, that I said usually.

This year has had NO dreary parts so far, which is great!!!  This month has been busy and will only be getting busier.  My latest adventure was a three-day-two-night vacation with my family to a place I've been going to since I was eight years old.

I can remember the first time I came here to stay in one of the family cabins...
They've added a water park since then, but the simplicity and peace I find at this place has never ceased to make it one of my favorite places to visit.

The first evening, after the younger children went to bed, was spent playing our favorite card games and laughing till we were almost sick!

Jessie and Bekah in our cabin.  Beautiful, smiling faces...

Outside the Lodge... taken by Mom!

Inside the Lodge... taken by a sweet lady!

The lookout... I love this!!!

Look at the ICE on these steps!!!  It's a wonder we made it!
:-)

Natalie through one of the lookout windows on the lower floor.

Looking way up at Dad, Mom, Daniel, and Natalie in the "tower".
Hmmm... might not be quite tall enough to call it a tower, but it sounds really cool, doesn't it?

HAD to get a picture of this!!!
I'm trying to picture this sopping wet, snowy forest having a fire problem.
So, yes, the fire danger was low during our stay.

Inside the covered bridge!!!

Well, you know you've been in the car for too long when your jeans start to look interesting.
They are pretty cool close up, aren't they?
:-P

And, lastly, a self-portrait of me shivering in the cold with only a sweatshirt on.  I think I'd left my coat in the car for Jessica to use while I was out exploring... why she needed more in the car than I did outside I'll never know.  :-)

So, the result of this trip is a VERY sore back, neck, arms, and shoulders, but a happy heart!  I love getaways.  And I especially like simple ones!!!  They are the best.

Hope you're having a wonderful week!

Ooh, thanks for sharing! We got the buy 1 night get 1 free last winter. I love those cabins, so cozy. The wood burning stove is amazing!

We went on a trail in the snow one day when the sun came out. So cold but pretty too...

Looks like fun! :) Can you believe that I have still never been down there? It's on my to-do list though. :)
